Sudden Death -
Horrible Die Hard clone. Jean Claude VanDamme is Darren McCord, a fire marshall with a tragic past. He takes his two children to the seventh game in the Stanley Cup finals, a game where he is serving as fire marshall, … Continue reading

Excellent crime drama. Robert DeNiro is criminal mastermind Neil McCauley, an expert in split-second high-stakes robberies. Al Pacino is Vincent Hanna, an obsessive cop who will stop at nothing to nab his man. When McCauley and crew come to town … Continue reading

Waterworld -
Reasonable action fare. Interesting premise works well at times, but it seems as if the writers just didn’t think things through (i.e. why would consumables still be around several hundred years after the world was flooded?) Costner and Hopper give … Continue reading

Under Siege 2: Dark Territory -
Surprisingly interesting, if at times ludicrous, action fest from martial-arts master Steven Seagal. Seagal plays an ex-Navy SEAL, now a civilian travelling on a cross-country train with his teenage niece. Little does he know that a highly skilled group of … Continue reading

Batman Forever -
Third installment in the Batman series, with Batman joining forces with Robin for the first time against the villainous Two-Face and the Riddler. Superb visuals. Wonderful effects. But…there are just too many questions. A thoroughly fun movie to sit through, … Continue reading

Johnny Mnemonic -
What could have been an enjoyable science fiction action film falls way, way short due to a pitiful script and stiff acting.

Braveheart -
Excellent battle scenes complement this historical epic about one man’s quest to free his people. The first hour should have been trimmed up a bit though; the three-hour running time is unneccesary.

Die Hard with a Vengeance -
This third outing into the Die Hard series doesn’t quite live up to the original, but it sure does try, and surpasses its immediate predecessor in the process. The addition of a sidekick (played wonderfully by Samuel L. Jackson) adds … Continue reading

Crimson Tide -
Well written suspenseful submarine drama. Not quite as good as The Hunt for Red October, but it comes close at times. My only complaint was that, although Gene Hackman’s character was humanized, Denzel Washington’s point of view was obviously the … Continue reading

Rob Roy -
Well made movie about a Scottish hero, played with presence by Liam Neeson. A surprising amount of gore for what seems on the outset to be a romantic epic, Rob Roy does satisfy in the end.
