The Innocent -

The characters in this cold-war intrigue remain an enigma, much like Anthony Hopkins’ muddled American accent. Campbell Scott portrays a young British electronics expert assigned to work with the Americans in West Berlin in the 1950s. Anthony Hopkins is the security-conscious American who is heading “Project Gold”. Isabella Rossellini is a German woman who attracts the eye of Scott, and the suspicion of Hopkins. There are plenty of plot twists, most heavily foreshadowed. Unfortunately, you never truly get a grasp of the characters and their motivations.
