Non-stop violence (though not as gory as the video game itself) helps to obscure the lack of decent characterization and the flimsiest of plots. The fight scenes for the most part are well choreographed, though this is no Jackie Chan film. The film is filled with interesting visuals, from the exotic backgrounds to the bizaare fighters. However, going into a movie based solely on an arcade game should provide some warning of what’s ahead. You end up with pretty much what you should expect–it should be worth noting that you can play the game much cheaper than seeing the movie, and the end result is much the same.
